What an NYC airport car service costs, and what the price already includes
Updated
People searching for what an airport car service costs in New York usually aren't after a single number. They want three things settled: whether the price changes on arrival, whether tolls are already in it, and what happens to the fare when traffic does.
All three have direct answers, and all three are written into our published policy rather than promised verbally.
The total you see online is the amount you pay
Once your pickup, drop-off and time are in, the system generates a total. That figure already carries every applicable tax, and it is the amount you will be charged.
When you pay, the system re-checks the figure against the route snapshot taken at booking, so the price you were shown and the price charged are the same. Payment confirms the trip automatically — there is no manual review stage, and nobody calls afterwards to revise the fare.
Traffic does not move a quote once it has been given. That is written into our cancellation and refund policy, not offered as a verbal assurance.
What the quote already covers
Sales and other applicable taxes, highway tolls, bridge and tunnel charges, and airport fees are all inside the quoted price. No driver will ask you for toll money on the day.
Interstate runs work the same way. New York into New Jersey or Connecticut involves crossings, and those crossings are already priced in — nothing is added on arrival.
Only two things sit outside the quote: the gratuity, which is up to you, and waiting beyond the free waiting time ($1 per minute, collected by the driver on site).
Fixed-price airport routes versus distance-based pricing
Transfers to JFK, LaGuardia and Newark EWR run as fixed-price routes across the areas we cover most: the same route costs the same at 6am on a Monday as it does mid-afternoon on a Sunday. Manhattan, Flushing, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island and New Jersey all qualify.
The point of a fixed price is that it moves traffic risk off the passenger. Brooklyn to JFK is thirty-odd minutes on a clear run and can double crossing the bridges at rush hour, while the fare stays where it was.
Addresses outside the fixed-price routes are priced on the actual route, and that price is shown in full before you pay just the same.
What changes the price
For a given journey, the price moves with the vehicle class (Standard SUV, seven-seat minivan or Luxury SUV), the number of passengers and bags, and the distance and time of the trip.
Enter the real passenger and luggage counts and the system picks the smallest vehicle that genuinely fits. If one car will not do, it upgrades the class or adds a second vehicle, priced before you pay rather than raised on the day.
For skis, golf bags, instruments and other oversized items, note the dimensions when you book so we can size the vehicle to the actual load.
Is a deposit required?
No deposit. You pay once by card online, and the booking locks and confirms on payment, with a confirmation email and receipt sent automatically.
After payment the trip details — time, addresses, vehicle, passenger count — cannot be edited directly. To change them, use the free reschedule or contact us.
What can be charged on top
Two things only, both published in the policy.
The first is waiting beyond the free allowance. Airport pickups include 90 minutes free from the actual landing time; drop-offs, city pickups and everything else include 15 minutes free from the driver's arrival. Beyond that it is $1 per minute, collected by the driver in person and never added to the online bill.
The second is a fare difference after rescheduling. You may reschedule once at no charge more than 48 hours before the ride; if the new trip falls into a more expensive slot or a longer route, the difference is payable, and a cheaper one is not refunded.
Cancellation runs off the ride time too: more than 48 hours ahead is a full refund with no fee, under 48 hours is non-refundable. Airport bookings affected by the flight itself are exempt from the 48-hour rule — we re-schedule against the actual landing time at no charge.
How gratuity works
The quote excludes gratuity. Whether to tip, and how much, is entirely yours to decide.
You can hand it to the driver directly, or add it to the booking online. Gratuity paid online goes to the driver in full — the company takes no share of it.
Questions about this guide
Roughly what does an airport transfer in New York cost?
It depends on the two addresses, the vehicle class, and how many passengers and bags there are, so there is no single figure that fits every trip. Enter your details on the booking form and the system prices that specific journey at once, showing the final amount before you pay. The main routes to the three airports are fixed price, identical at any hour.
Who pays the tolls and airport fees — are they extra?
They are inside the quoted price and are not charged separately. The total shown online is the amount payable and already includes applicable taxes, tolls and airport fees. Only two things sit outside the quote: the gratuity, which is up to you, and waiting beyond the free waiting time ($1 per minute, collected by the driver on site).
Does the price go up if we hit traffic?
No. A quote does not move with road conditions, and that is set out in our cancellation and refund policy. On the fixed-price airport routes the same journey costs the same at rush hour as at any other time.
Is there a deposit?
No. You pay in full once by card online; the booking locks and confirms on payment, and a confirmation email and receipt are sent automatically.
How long will the driver wait, and what happens after that?
Airport pickups include 90 minutes free from the actual landing time. Drop-offs, city pickups and everything else include 15 minutes free from the driver's arrival. Beyond that it is $1 per minute, collected in person by the driver and never added to the online bill.
How is a long-distance or interstate charter priced?
The same way — quoted instantly on the booking form, with crossings and tolls already included and the final amount shown before you pay. If you need several stops or the car by the hour, an hourly charter suits better, with the driver waiting throughout.
Can I get an invoice?
Yes. A receipt is emailed automatically to the address you booked with once payment succeeds. Business customers who need consolidated invoicing and monthly billing can use a corporate account.
Price your own trip
Transparent pricing — you see the final price before you pay, with no hidden fees. The system generates your quote as soon as your trip details are in, and your trip is confirmed automatically once you pay online.
